Whitney Biennial - Take 2
It is often said that art is subjective. This statement is one that arguably must be true. As individuals, we tend to find beauty in varying places. My visit to the 2008 Whitney Biennial was framed with the question: What is the state of American Art today? Upon viewing all of the visually distinct pieces on display, I must say that there is a current running through American art today which puts a fresh spin on contemporary. My experience in the exhibit allowed me to walk out with an appreciation for what I saw in that I was able to indulge into what is often considered a “taste-maker” for art today.
